The Santa Croce district becomes one of Florence’s historic centers for leather craftsmanship, thanks to its proximity to the Arno River and the presence of skilled leather artisans.
1906
Cesare Misuri founds his business at Piazza Santa Croce 22r, in the heart of Florence, dedicated to the creation and trade of leather goods.
1940s
During the war, Jolanda Misuri begins to make the Maison known among Americans by selling leather souvenirs crafted by Misuri.
Postwar years
After the Second World War, Jolanda becomes fully involved in the family business. With the arrival of the first American travellers, Misuri’s reputation begins to grow.
Around 1950
The Kelly Bag is born, created by Cesare Misuri in collaboration with an artisan who had previously worked for Gucci. The piece soon becomes one of the Maison’s most emblematic creations.
1957
According to the Maison’s legend, Grace Kelly discovers the bag in the Misuri boutique in Florence and purchases it. In her honour, it takes the name Misuri Grace 1957.
Early 1980s
In the early 1980s, Misuri was acquired by Florentine entrepreneurs who carried forward its legacy with the same dedication to quality and Florentine craftmanship.
Today
Under Carlotta’s direction, Misuri continues to share with the world a Florentine vision of elegance, uniqueness and artisanal savoir-faire.
